What to Know About Wedding Dress Shopping

Friday, July 16th, 2021

Saying yes to the dress has never been easier! Our office manager, Madison, is sharing her tips on all things wedding dress shopping!

What would you say to a bride shopping for her wedding dress?

“My tips for shopping would be to start early, wedding dresses can take 12 to 16 weeks to come in! I would recommend just keep looking until you find exactly what you want, no matter how many stores you have to go to because you’re spending a lot of money on a dress and you need to make sure you feel good in it!”

What should I know about trying on wedding dresses?

“I would go in with realistic expectations, not every dress is going to fit you great! The dress you had envisioned for yourself might not work with your body type. Just keep trying on different styles and you will find something that you like!”

Should I look for my accessories at the bridal shop?

“I would say put all thought of accessories out of your mind and focus on your dress!”

Who should I bring to shop with me?

“I brought my mom and my sister to shop with me! I have always been someone who just kind of knows when something looks good on me and when it’s something that I love and would have no regrets about, so I felt like I didn’t really need a lot of other opinions or voices in the room when I was trying on dresses. But if you’re someone who really relies on your friends’ opinions, or you trust someone’s opinions specifically when it comes to fashion, and also someone who’s going to tell you the truth about what looks good and what doesn’t, I would say that you should definitely bring them with you.”

Happy shopping!

Friday, July 16th, 2021

Want to incorporate pets into your wedding?  Include your furry friend in your big day with these tips from our community manager and associate editor, Lauren!

There are so many fun ways to have your furry friend be a special part of your wedding day. They can walk down the aisle as a “flower girl” or even come down the aisle with the bridesmaids and groomsmen! If you want them to be a little less involved, they can always come sit by the parents… just know that they are as excited as you to have as little or as big of a part of your big day!

Another super unique way to incorporate your pets is to feature them throughout the details of your wedding! Putting your pet’s picture on the save the date or the invitation is such an adorable way to incorporate them into the smaller details of the wedding. If you’re worried about your pet getting in the way of your guests, we have a solution for you! Getting a day-of pet attendant will keep you stress-free while your pet still gets to be a part of the day… what could be better than that?!

Your furry friend will also need to be dressed for the occasion! Tuxedos, flower crowns, flower collars, and dresses are all super cute ways to make sure your pet is dressed to the nines for the big day. Letting your pet’s personality show through their outfit will allow them and you to shine and feel your best at the wedding!

First Wedding Planning Steps to Take After You Get Engaged

Friday, July 16th, 2021

You’re engaged! Now what? Our account executive, Quincy, is sharing her tips on the first wedding planning steps you should take!

Step One: Budget

When beginning your wedding planning process it is important to sit down with your partner, your parents, or whoever else may be helping you financially and set a budget! Before you are able to book any vendors you need to have a good idea of how much you are willing to spend. It is also important to take time with your partner and discuss which vendors and details are on the top of your list. Maybe you both really want a good DJ for your reception, make that a priority in the budget and then you can workout other vendors around it!

Step Two: Photographer/Videographer

Your photographer and videographer are vendors that you want to nail down early. They tend to book up quickly so the sooner you can find the perfect fit for you the more likely it is that they will be available! Finding your photographer early also allows you plenty of time to schedule engagement pictures for those save the dates and gives you time to make sure you’re getting exactly what you want!

Step 3: Guest List

Creating your guest list can be a little daunting at first but don’t be afraid to start big. You can begin with a large list that allows you to narrow down your numbers to the people you really want to share your special day with! Invite the people who make you two feel loved and supported! Don’t forget that your wedding is a day to celebrate you two as a couple! Whether you want a small intimate wedding or a huge celebration, do what feels right for the two of you. Make sure to reference your budget when you have your list narrowed down to ensure that you can afford to accommodate the amount of people you plan to invite!

Step 4: Venue

Once you have a guest number in mind you can go look for the perfect venue! There are so many options from rustic barns, to ballrooms, to a fun destination! Know your vision for your dream day and begin to find spaces that bring that vision to life. Once you find a venue, you can lock-in a date for your wedding and begin planning all the other details around it!

Step 5: Other Key Vendors

Having your date set allows you to begin searching for and hiring other vendors. At this point you may begin looking for a wedding planner, florists, caterers, and even start looking for that perfect dress! This is the time where you can start bringing all the details of your wedding vision to life and working with vendors to create your dream day! Don’t be afraid to ask questions and use the experience and creativity of your vendors, they do know a thing or two about weddings!

Step 6: Relax and Enjoy

Wedding planning can be very busy, but don’t let it take away from celebrating your engagement! Take time to step away from planning and just enjoy this season of engagement with your partner! Use this sweet time of being engaged to celebrate, relax, and dream about life after the wedding day!
