Honeymoon Tips from Change Your Latitude Travel

We sat down with travel expert Erin Peters of Change Your Latitude Travel to bring you help travel tips to make your honeymoon adventure a breeze! See what Erin has to say below!

Tip 1: Don’t start off your planning by setting a strict budget. This is your honeymoon; it’s about more than just the amount of money you spend, Erin says. It’s about the value you get for that money. It’s paying a little more to have a personal butler that will attend to your every whim or staying in a room that is right on the beach. It’s good to have an idea of what you want to spend but be flexible. Use a travel agent that allows you to make payments in order to stretch your budget.

Tip 2: Plan ahead! Erin recommends that couples start planning their honeymoon at least nine months in advance. This will give you plenty of time to explore the options and make a decision. You will be able to get the best flight prices and room categories at the resort you have chosen. If you wait too long, many popular resorts will be sold out especially during high season from October to April. This will also give you time to pay the deposit and make payments on your honeymoon.

Tip 3: Take the time to talk about what you really want out of your honeymoon. Do you want to just relax on the beach or be constantly on the go. For many couples, it’s your first real vacation together and you may have totally different ideas of what a vacation looks like. Make a list of must-haves — all-inclusive, beachfront, five-star resort, lots of activities, water sports, scuba diving, personal butler, etc. to figure out what is important to both of you.

Tip 4: Be sure to consider the time of year when looking at getaway options. Maybe you really want to go to Tahiti, but you’re getting married during their rainy season. You may want to consider delaying your honeymoon or looking into other locations with similar accommodations and better weather. Hurricane season is always a consideration; travel is generally cheaper but you may have rain or a chance of cancellation due to weather. Also consider flight or travel time.
