Q&A With DJ Questionmark
Q: How did the name “DJ Questionmark” come to be?
“I started out as an opening DJ working the club scene, and I couldn’t decide on a name. As a joke, someone called me DJ Questionmark—and it stuck!”
Q: How do you personalize the experience for each couple?
“I set up a meeting with every couple and we go over everything—what kind of vibe they want, what music matters most to them, and the kind of experience they’re hoping to create. It gives me a real feel for what their day should sound like.”
Q: What’s something couples should be asking when hiring a DJ?
“I always tell people to ask: What’s the DJ’s vision for your wedding, and does that match yours? Also, do they take requests? These little things can make a big difference in how the night goes.”
Q: How do you keep the dance floor alive all night?
“Reading the crowd is key. After that, it’s about not overengaging—let the music speak for itself. And finally, just have fun. If you’re not enjoying yourself up there, chances are the crowd isn’t either.”
Q: How do you keep guests of all ages involved?
“It’s all about timing. What works for someone in their 20s might not work for someone in their 50s, so I get older guests involved early. Once they’re feeling it, the whole dance floor picks up.”
Q: Any go-to songs that always hit?
“Definitely ‘Hotel Room Service’ by Pitbull, ‘It’s Tricky’ by Run DMC, and ‘In Da Club’ by 50 Cent. They get people moving every time.”
Q: What do you hope guests walk away thinking at the end of the night?
“I want people to leave thinking: ‘That was the most fun I’ve ever had at a wedding.’ That’s the goal, every time.”
Q: Have any couples ever surprised you with a request that just worked?
“All the time—too many to name, honestly! Sometimes the most unexpected songs are the ones that light the place up.”
Q: How do you handle unexpected hiccups during an event?
“I stay calm, assess the situation, and fix it as quickly as possible. You’ve got to be flexible and keep things flowing.”
Q: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever gotten from a couple?
“One that always stands out is: ‘This is exactly what we wanted. You read the crowd like a book.’ That’s everything to me.”
