Cultural Wedding at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club | Bonan + Felipe
by Lindsey Craig June 22
SWEET BEGINNINGS: Freshly out of law school, Bonan was interning part-time at a small law firm in Houston, but looking for a permanent job in the process. Two months later, Bonan started her new job where she would meet her future husband who happened to be already working there.
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Bonan and Felipe planned a trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico for a “just because” trip, or so Bonan thought. As they began to plan the trip, the couple’s good friend Anna Smith of Anna Smith Photography became incorporated into the trip. As soon as they arrived, Anna suggested that they dress up for a night out to dinner, which Bonan shot down because she wanted to be comfortable while on vacation. Later that evening, Felipe suggested they take a walk along the beach. Little did Bonan know that Anna would be in the bushes snapping photos of their perfect proposal.
THE SETTING: Stonebridge Ranch Country Club has a rustic hunting-lodge feel that the couple felt was very Texas. The venue features beautiful white chandeliers made of deer antlers that hung in the guest cottages as well as in the main turret room used for the cocktail hour.
HUES SHE USED: The couple chose colors that reflected the couple’s heritage and traditions. They chose a scarlet red and bright yellow gold because the shades are in both the Chinese and Spanish national flags. Their wedding date was also in the fall, which made these two colors even more appropriate.
SAVORY SWEETS: The cake, created by Jar Cakery, was a stunning painted gold buttercream four-tier cake. It included bursts of red blooms provided by Stems of Dallas. The couple couldn’t decide on a specific flavor so they went with red velvet cake with cookies and cream icing, and strawberry cake with cream cheese icing.
VENDOR LOVE: The couple was well-equipped on their special day because of their help from Anna Smith Photography. Her preferred vendor list gave Bonan and Felipe a great list of resources to use for their wedding.
