SWEET BEGINNINGS: Meghan met Donovan on Christmas night in 2009 through her brother, Marty. Marty was having a small get-together at his home, and after playing a game of Rock Band with Donovan, she knew he could be the one. She had never felt so comfortable around someone so quickly. He’s been her best friend ever since.
PERFECT PROPOSAL: In the summer of 2014, Donovan, Meghan and her family vacationed in South Padre Island. One morning, Donovan got up before sunrise and left, which Meghan thought was strange. She figured maybe he went for a walk and slept a bit longer. About an hour later, she got up and look for him, thinking he had gone to her parents’ and brother’s condo. Suddenly he showed up completely drenched in sweat. Meghan asked, “What in the world have you been doing?!” He replied, “Building sand castles!” When she went onto the balcony to look at the “sand castles,” she saw giant letters etched into the wet sand reading, “MEGHAN, MARRY ME?” When she turned around, he was on one knee, holding a ring. Meghan immediately said yes!
PRETTY PAPER: Paper Planet created a layered look of paper materials including metallic gold cardstock, green handmade lace paper, gold pebble handmade paper and cranberry cardstock combined for a dramatic invitation of textures and colors.
THE SETTING: Inspired by the image of an ornate evening dinner party in a forest, the couple chose Midsummer’s Night Dream as their theme and used hues of berry, plum, fuchsia, burgundy forest green and gold throughout.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: Humor and laughter are among the most important things in Meghan and Donovan’s relationship, and their mutual love of comedy is what initially brought them together. That being said, they decided to go with “Grow Old With You” by Adam Sandler – the song he sings to Drew Barrymore at the end of “Wedding Singer.” They saved their special song, “Love is the End” by Keane, for the end of the night when they had a secret dance alone.
