SWEET BEGINNINGS: Allie and Blake’s paths crossed several times throughout their years studying broadcast journalism at the University of Missouri. The summer before their senior year, Blake was producing the evening news and Allie was the anchor. Blake slowly worked up the courage to invite her to hang out with his friends after the show and eventually they began to date.
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Little did Allie know, Blake had the ring ready for nearly three months just waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question! His time finally came when the couple decided to visit Washington D.C. on a three-day weekend getaway. Blake’s only request was a nighttime tour of the monuments. When they arrived at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, Allie declared it her favorite view of the city and Blake saw his chance. After sharing his hopes and dreams for their future, Blake dropped to one knee and proposed!
SPECIAL TRADITIONS: Allie and Blake’s ceremony was modeled after the last one her grandfather performed before he passed away. He spent his career as a minister of music in one of Dallas’ largest churches. Hearing the words he shared at Allie’s cousin’s wedding several years prior made them feel as though he was standing with them on their special day.
DELICIOUS DISHES: Thankfully the bride’s sister and matron-of-honor is a chef who helped the couple come up with the inspiration for their “Fried Chicken and Champagne” menu! They served boneless southern fried chicken and gourmet mac and cheese with toppings such as truffle oil and bacon. There also was a biscuit bar with an assortment of incredible toppings that was a hit.
VENDOR LOVE: Allie and Blake believe they had the best vendors thanks to their wedding planner Lottie Fowler of Grit + Gold. She also planned Allie’s sister’s wedding, so they knew they could entrust their special day to her. Not only did she help them create a beautiful day and make sure it ran smoothly, she also assembled the best teams to surround Allie and Blake on their wedding day!
