Katie Pyke and Mark Halvorson’s Rustic Industrial DFW Wedding
SWEET BEGINNINGS; Mark and Katie met in 2010 through mutual friends. They were acquaintances for two years until they met again by chance when they both attended a wine club Valentine’s sweetheart dinner with friends. They encountered each other during the event and rekindled their friendship. After their great conversation, Mark knew he wanted to ask Katie out. He reached out to her the following weekend and they went out for dinner and drinks. The rest is history!
THE SETTING: Hickory Street Annex is a beautiful, apricot-colored brick building in Deep Ellum and was originally used as a distribution center for Gulf Oil Corporation in the 1920s. The venue has a genuinely rustic feel, with large windows, exposed rafters and a cool vintage freight elevator that divides the space perfectly.
AMAZING ALTAR: The couple’s florist built a striking, colorful floral arch for them to be married under. The structure was wooden and covered in lush blooms ranging from large peonies to a variety of garden roses. They used different sized blooms to add texture, and they wanted the altar to be versatile enough to be used for both the ceremony and reception. This piece set the stage for the romantic ceremony and framed the bar at the reception for a playful touch.
GET HER LOOK: Katie wore a dreamy A-line gown from Bridal Boutique Lewisville. The silk peony gown was made from soft organza and featured a sweetheart neckline and elegant train. She paired her dress with a Watters belt.
SPECIAL TOUCHES: The officiant for their wedding was a friend of Mark’s from college who is a pastor. It was a special experience for Mark to have his close friend involved in his wedding that way. Some other special touches were the signs and planted flowers around the venue, which were grown and created by Katie’s dad. To end their wedding day, the couple was whisked away to married life in a 1941 white Packard. It was a classic touch to an incredible wedding.
