Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021

We’ve seen a celebration or two in our day, so we know all the most pertinent parts to curate a private party right here in North Texas. After the question is popped and the planning starts, there will be more than a few pre-wedding activities to coordinate as well. Whether you’re aiming for small-scale or the sky is the limit, we suggest mapping out a budget and committing to it! Once that is settled, there are just a few things you need before nailing down any other details. We compiled a few of the most pertinent festivity details down below so you can pick and choose what feels right for your private party to feature!

Private Party Spaces

You’ll need somewhere to host your happy occasion, so start off by checking out the iconic Space on West Main or Adriatica Studios. These McKinney, Allen, and DFW locales will totally elevate your event, and each has something completely unique to offer. If you’re having trouble deciding which spot might be the right fit for you, check out some of our favorites here. Or, if the meal is the main event, choose one of our favorite rehearsal dinner restaurants like Parkway, Soulman’s, or Colonial Country Club, to name a few.

Delicious Party Food

Feed your guests something they will never forget with culinary experiences like those found via our favorite Dallas/Fort Worth caterers. On-Site Bartending

Your guests will likely want some help if you’re expecting them to socialize, or heaven forbid – dance. For something sweet to sip on throughout the evening, Bubbles and Brews Dallas will come on-site with their vintage Piaggio Ape and its unbeatable on-tap prosecco and craft beer bar. The Tipsy Tap is another mobile option, and Modern Pour or HD Liquid Catering are great for partygoers who like the entertainment of an on-location bartender whipping up signature cocktails. Sip sip hooray!

Modern Hacienda Wedding Inspiration with Warm Florals Abloom

Tuesday, November 16th, 2021

Two tablescapes, two hairstyles and so many amazing shots make up this modern hacienda wedding inspiration with just the right balance of southern elegance with southwestern flair! In this gallery from the talented White Orchid Photo, local vendors new and old worked together to bring life to floral-filled scenes around the property of Lazy S Hacienda. Sandy shades of Sahara, quicksand and toffee roses from Kate McLeod Studio abloom across each tablescape help to blend a formal reception setup with its natural outdoor surroundings, flecked with vibrant azure accents. Our lovely bride modeled a gown fit for the occasion with intricate beaded details and a breathtaking dress train. Beauty professionals at Tease to Please Hair and Makeup styled the model with warm, flawless wedding makeup we can’t get over, as well as two different hairstyles to match the mood of each scene. The mod, Sedona-esque tones of this styled shoot carried over beautifully to tablescapes and more where romantic hand-lettering on colorful stones by Bethany’s Letter Shop made perfect place settings and tied back in with the custom invitations and calligraphy to be received by all your guests. Traveling Post COVID | Your Honeymoon Travel Guidelines Answered

Monday, November 15th, 2021

We can’t help but get a little excited as travel guidelines and restrictions ease and COVID-19 becomes less of a threat, since honeymoons, mini-moons, destination weddings, and more are just waiting to happen! Though we’re not completely out of the woods yet, there are still safe ways to travel and some things you need to know post-pandemic that we sourced straight from an expert. We asked Casey Selter with Travel by Casey about her honeymoon travel tips in the Q&A below where she dishes all the jet-setting details you need to know for traveling post-COVID. Read on!

traveling post COVID

I just got engaged! When should I book my honeymoon?

It is never too early to start planning your honeymoon! Some of the most popular honeymoon destinations, like overwater bungalows in Jamaica, Maldives and Bora Bora, are filling up fast.

What does travel look like currently? Are planes still the best option for further destinations?

Traveling is back in full force, and many airlines are offering amazing deals, making them a great option for a further honeymoon or mini-moon travel. Whether you’re vaccinated or not, I make sure you are totally prepared for your flight requirements so you have no stress. Let’s get you on that plane – as safely as possible!

What abroad honeymoon destinations are open or opening for next year?

As of now, the vast majority of popular international honeymoon destinations are back open! More and more are changing their status each day, so reach out via my vendor profile here to inquire about your destination today.

What are some destinations where we can avoid large crowds and spend more time enjoying the newlywed life?

There are all-inclusive resorts to be found in nearly every locale, which can offer so much romance. As far as specific destinations, I’d say Costa Rica or the Maldives. Fiji opens back up in December to travelers which would be a beautiful option with no large crowds.

Should we get travel insurance?

Absolutely! I don’t book clients without insurance. Insurance is cheaper than most might realize, and it gives you a secure, stress-free feeling. I would highly recommend it.

What is a mini-moon and should I take one?

A mini-moon is a shorter (typically 2-3 night) honeymoon that a couple takes closer to home in lieu of, or as a precursor to, a traditional honeymoon. Mini-moons are great, and I’d totally recommend one especially if you don’t have the budget for your dream honeymoon quite yet, or your dream honeymoon location has COVID restrictions that you feel might dampen the overall experience.

What are the best mini-moon spots in the U.S.?

Destinations such as Tennessee, Florida, Puerto Rico, The Bahamas and The Virgin Islands are all popular domestic mini-moon spots among newlyweds.

Top 4 Major Changes Seen in Weddings Since COVID-19

Tuesday, November 9th, 2021

Beyond the social distancing and those who postponed, there were plenty of other changes that swept the wedding industry at the start of the pandemic in 2020. Brides, wedding vendors, and everyone in between were blindsided by COVID-19 and the effects it would have on events, especially weddings, well into the foreseeable future. Some fun new trends were birthed out of the circumstance though, and we think they might be here to stay. We compiled four of the major changes seen in weddings since COVID-19 and what makes them lovable. Check them out down below!

Smaller Weddings

Perhaps the largest, and most noticeable change couples made since the start of COVID-19 was altering their guest count to have smaller affairs. Enter: the micro wedding, elopements, minimonies, and more (linked here in case you’re unfamiliar with some of the new wedding size terms) so that couples could celebrate their love in a safer, more personalized way. We have been nothing short of blown away by the resilience shown by local lovebirds and what they made out of the cards they’ve been dealt.

Single-Serve Catering

To help keep germs to a minimum, single-serve catering has made a rise and we have seen so many great ways to seamlessly implement the trend. Charcuterie cups as shown above, one-bite wonders like tasting spoons, and creative mini containers are all perfect picks for the occasion.

Minimoon Now, International Honeymoon Later

Domestic destinations are the first pick for many couples as they opt for a minimoon just after being married – a smaller honeymoon that they take now to prelude a grander, possibly international honeymoon to come at a later date. When all borders are totally open and every country has waived their COVID restrictions, we expect this trend to slow down a little, but it just may be here to stay!

Unique Settings

Whether it was brought on by the COVID closures or the necessity of wedding venues getting booked solid amid the wedding boom, couples are getting creative with the backdrop of their nuptials and transforming unlikely spaces into stunning ceremonies and receptions. Residential weddings are making a rise as couples utilize the most obvious and easiest choice, and beautiful decor, florals and colors incorporated into your house can really make it feel like a wedding venue! But, you don’t have to stop there. Anything can be a wedding venue if you put your mind to it (and ask the right people).

Elopement, Minimony or Micro Wedding | Wedding Size Terms Explained

Monday, November 8th, 2021

In the last year alone, wedding size terms have changed more than almost anything else in the industry. We’ve talked about the return of elopements, the birth of micro weddings, and have minimonies always been a thing? Either way, what does it all mean? Size certainly matters, and these categories are much more than just cute wedding buzzwords. So is the difference, and what are the total guest counts associated with each small, medium, and large weddings? Understanding all of this is key in planning a successful soiree, so we broke it down piece by piece. Local wedding pros, upcoming brides and nuptial enthusiasts alike take a deep breath – all the newest wedding size terms explained down below. Cheers!

elopement wedding size

Elopement

An elopement typically involves a little travel, an epic location, and an intimate crowd. Most elopements consist of just the bride, groom, and their officiant while others involve a small wedding party with their day. They are shorter, love-focused celebrations where vendors are few but romance is plentiful. Think 25 guests at the very most.

micro wedding size

Micro Wedding

If elopements are considered more spur-of-the-moment, micro weddings are planned as full-on nuptials – just with up to 50 guests in tow! Most venues offer smaller packages for a lower guest count and with a closer crowd, you have the time and freedom to make memories with each of your guests individually.

minimony wedding size

Minimony

If splitting things up is more your style, a minimony might be made for you! Minimonies are perfect for the couple looking to tie the knot with a small group of 50 or less (or in a moment of commitment among each other) now, before planning a larger reception or celebration with the rest of the guest list to come later on. You can make your love official yet still wait for COVID to stop looming on the horizon before planning the bigger party.

small wedding size

Small Wedding

We consider anything up to 100 guests to be a small wedding. You send invitations, guests RSVP, the whole shebang. Due to COVID-19, many have chosen to scale down their events or limit their guest counts, and for some this has meant smaller budgets as well! You can choose to make it as low- or high-key as you’d like, tailoring the experience to your guests as you see fit.

medium wedding size

Medium Wedding

If you were thinking of having a small wedding but your immediate family alone consists of 50+, fear not! Over 100 but less than 300 guests is considered to be a medium wedding or mid-size event. Numbers are relative, though, so if your family typically attends weddings with upwards of 300 guests, a 100-person event might feel small to you. Similarly, if you’ve only ever been to intimate ceremonies, a reception with 80 guests might feel huge, so it’s important to remember that these numbers will be a little bit different for everyone.

large wedding size

Large/Grand Wedding

Hosting over 300 guests definitely warrants a “grand” or large wedding, which we are obsessed with. It’s easy to wow guests when over-the-top is the goal! A larger guest count will definitely require a bigger budget, but it can be worth it to see sweet loved ones’ faces on your big day. The traditional marriage format is evolving right before our eyes and we can’t wait to see where it goes from here!

Pour Decisions | How Much to Serve via Our Helpful Wedding Alcohol Calculator

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021

Don’t make a pour decision! So you’ve started planning and are wondering just how much alcohol you should be serving? Avoid the faux pas and keep the drinks flowing by making sure to order the appropriate amount of beer, wine and liquor for your celebration with the help of our wedding alcohol calculator. Eco-friendly brides and sustainable wedding enthusiasts alike know that food and drink are at the top of the list in terms of what gets wasted at the end of the night with Harper’s Bazaar quoting an approximate 10% of all wedding imbibements going into the trash

Some North Texas catering and bartending services are paired together, while other local vendors offer their services on an a la carte basis. Despite whatever method you choose, it’s important to know your numbers in order to avoid over serving or under serving your guests, reduce waste, and make the most of your wedding budget. Feel free to use our detailed wedding alcohol calculator below as a guide. Cheers!

Don’t Stop the Party

Your guest count plays the biggest factor in how much alcohol you should be serving, but that isn’t all! You should also take into consideration how long your party will go on, so that your supply doesn’t run dry when your guests are at the very peak of cutting a rug out on the dance floor.

wedding alcohol calculator

The Golden Ratio

Know your crowd! If your people are wine and beer only, ensure that you stock up on plenty of reds and whites as well as a few lager options. If your wedding involves serving a full bar, these are the ratios we suggest to hit all your bases. Personalize your choices of liquor or beer to truly cater to every crowd!

wedding alcohol calculator

Serving Sizes

Certain brands may vary by small amounts. However, this graphic essentially displays just how many servings you can get out of each particular type of bottle. This may sway you one way or another if you were on the fence about specific types of spirits, because some choices are simply more economical than others.

wedding alcohol calculator

Nuptial Sips by the Numbers

For a typical four-hour reception, you can expect a smaller crowd of 50 or so guests to enjoy around 200 drinks. We divvied this up according to the alcohol ratios above, but you can add to or take away from any category you’d like. The reception time also affects how much alcohol to serve. If you’re having a brunch wedding or tying the knot in the early afternoon, guests will be less inclined to drink than at a nighttime celebration.

wedding alcohol calculator

Nuptial Sips by the Numbers

Like clockwork, doubling your guest count will also double the amount of alcohol you should be prepared to serve. But remember that any additional time beyond four hours will need to be recalculated and accounted for! Pro tip: Just like the wedding time affects your guests’ intake, so does the day of the week. Expect guests to indulge more on the weekends than during the week!

wedding alcohol calculator

Nuptial Sips by the Numbers

For a big wedding, we say to pump up the volume a bit. Following the amounts laid out in our wedding alcohol calculator will take the guessing out of planning your wedding alcohol numbers. This will put your mind at ease and you can relax knowing that the math was done for you by professionals who have seen a million weddings and know all the ins and outs!

Most Likely to be Forgotten…

Mixers are the magic that brings your cocktails to life! Don’t forget to include these nonalcoholic pours into your bar and budget, but feel free to customize given your crowd, how much alcohol, and of what kinds that you’ll be going with. Gin needs tonic and rum needs coke, so don’t let mixers slip your mind.

A Rustic Garden Party Came to Life at Morgan Creek Barn

Friday, October 15th, 2021

The bright palette in this rustic yet whimsical wedding was enough to grab our attention, but the sweet details planned out by Erin and Myles have totally stolen our hearts! We’re getting all the rustic garden party vibes with shades of rosewood, peach, navy and dusty blue that combined in lovely springy floral installations all around The Milestone | Aubrey‘s Morgan Creek Barn, bringing so much fun and romance. The bride shared a first look with her brothers and father, as well as her groom. It was the site of many firsts that day, as the bride and groom tied the knot, their families met in person for the first time, and all their groomsmen traveled in from out of state. Erin’s beautiful bridesmaids complemented her in rosey toned gowns from Molly’s Bridal Closet with various necklines to suit the style of each.

Both bride and groom agreed it was so fun to witness their families meet and celebrate them so well together. Stepping away from the excitement for a bit, the two shared stunning sunset pictures together making some of their favorite memories from the day. We loved seeing their sweet kisses and giddy exchanges as they soaked in their first moments at husband and wife. Erin and Myles aren’t huge fans of cake, so they opted instead for an ice cream sundae bar from one of their favorite date night spots. Guests enjoyed ice cream and dancing all night long to the start of Mr. and Mrs. Kuiper’s forever! Read on for a note from the bride about one of the most important things she learned throughout the planning process of her rustic garden party wedding. Cheers to the Kuipers!

Advice from the bride: “No wedding detail is as important and gathering your family to celebrate such a special milestone! Every moment is so special and doesn’t last long enough.”
