Fort Worth Wedding from Grit + Gold | Mary Ellen + Louis
by Lindsey Craig May 17
SWEET BEGINNINGS: The first time MaryEllen ever met Louis was at their mutual friend’s birthday dinner at Angelo’s BBQ. The two sat next to each other and didn’t speak the entire time! MaryEllen indulged on barbecue, and Louis drank ice tea and ate two cups of banana pudding. MaryEllen thought he hated her. Turns out, Louis was really sick and felt awful, so of course MaryEllen felt bad. They hung out together with mutual friends several times after that, and the rest is history!
GET HER LOOK: MaryEllen wore a Karen Willis Holmes Selena gown featuring a beautiful guipure lace bustier style bodice, with lace detail at the neckline and a full circle tulle and organza skirt finished with webbing on the hem. The gown was styled with a multi-paneled overlay skirt comprised of individual organza with web hem circles draped at the waist. To complete the look, she wore a delicate beaded diamante belt and a two-tier, fingertip-length veil with hand-beaded crystals on the edge. For accessories, MaryEllen wore Kate Spade teardrop earrings, as well as her mother’s solitary diamond necklace that was given to her when she was 16 by her grandfather.
MODERN CLASSIC: MaryEllen and Lou had a modern wedding with a classic twist. It was elegant with a laid-back feel, using navy, gold and berry tones. MaryEllen had always wanted floral bridesmaid dresses, so after finding the perfect ones, she knew navy would be the main color. Lou loved the idea of navy tuxes, so the color palette grew from there. MaryEllen absolutely loves anything with gold tones, so she started putting all of her ideas together. For the florals she wanted something feminine, since navy was the main color. Berry tones fit in flawlessly, and when she saw her mock-up bouquet she knew everything would be perfect. Grit + Gold brought the couple’s vision to life perfectly by using decor and rentals from POSH Couture Rentals.
VENDOR LOVE: MaryEllen and Lou absolutely loved working with Lottie Fowler of Grit + Gold. Lottie was their wedding planner and made everything seamless. MaryEllen says she loved everything about working with her, and that she made their wedding stress-free. MaryEllen trusted her completely!
