PERFECT PROPOSAL: About a week before St. Patrick’s Day, Leland’s family made plans to see Pat Green at The Rustic. At one point during the concert, JD told Leland he ran into someone who invited them to come backstage to meet Pat. A few songs later, Leland met JD at the stage door to go backstage. Next thing she knew, Pat Green walked off stage, shook JD’s hand, and escorted the couple on stage. JD took the microphone, got down on one knee and asked Leland to marry him. She was in shock, but she said yes!
THE SETTING: Leland and JD chose the romantic, elegant Nasher Sculpture Center as their venue. The inside is modern and sleek, while the gardens are perfectly kept. Leland fell in love with the venue, and she thought it was the perfect place to host a wedding for her out-of-town guests.
BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS: The bride’s bouquet was a mix of white orchids, Keira garden roses, different shades of pink ranunculus, white O’Hara garden roses and a mix of loose greens loosely tied by hand-died silk ribbon.
SAVORY SWEETS: The wedding cake by Sugar Bee Sweets Bakery was a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, and vanilla cake with blackberry and cream cheese filling. The three-tier cake had white icing and fresh florals.
SPECIAL TOUCHES: The china, silverware and glassware on the head table were all Leland’s great-grandmother’s as well as the champagne glasses the couple toasted with. It was so special for Leland to have a piece of her great-grandmother with her on her big day.
VENDOR LOVE: Leland’s most helpful vendor was her wedding planner, Whitney. She had the same taste as Leland and understood everything she wanted for her wedding! She was so organized and sweet. Leland calls her a wedding superhero!
