Vows that Wow — Alexa & Gabe

How the Couple Met

Alexa and Gabe first met in law school. The two were a part of a fellowship for Christian law students and quickly became acquainted. Though good friends, they lost touch along the way. Months later, however, the couple reconnected and began talking; “first, just every few days, but soon we were FaceTiming every night for hours,” writes the bride. 

Through law school, the two lovebirds dated long distance, with Gabe popping the question in 2022. A year later, the couple married on September 2, 2023. 


The Wedding Day

Before the big day arrived, Alexa said yes to her dream gown at Bridal Boutique. She paired her dress with complimentary accessories from the same shop, completing her effortless bridal look.

Alexa and Gabe celebrated their union with a reception at the Adolphus Hotel — a location oozing with chic, downtown charm. The Adolphus also provided catering and accommodations for the couple’s friends and family. Enhancing an already stunning space were flowers from Vella Nest Floral. Green and white arrangements gave each space a natural look that won’t be going out of style any time soon.

The day’s events were captured by The Lockharts, providing photos, both candid and posed, to commemorate the occasion. Alexa and Gabe’s special day wouldn’t have been possible without the expertise from Jessica Deltoro Weddings. As the bride writes, “we could not have done it without our incredible wedding planner. She made the wedding planning process seamless and helped us bring our vision to life!”

How the Couple Met

Annie and David’s modern love story began with a dating app. Annie quickly found who she was looking for as David was her first match. After a successful first date at a comedy show and through all the craziness of COVID, the two lovebirds’ romance blossomed: from trips to Austin to their first Christmas together to a proposal in Rome. On October 1, 2023, the couple said “I do.”


The Wedding Day

Annie and David were married under The Bowden’s tall ceilings, enveloped in bright, natural light. The couple decorated the space with light pink, baby blue and white florals from Vella Nest Floral for a fresh look. The entire chapel exuded a timeless elegance along with the stunning reception room. Tall ceilings, white chandeliers and gold accents made for a classic and sophisticated space.

Jamie Park Photo shot the day’s events, capturing moments big and small. From getting ready to a joyous first look to reception dances, each photo tells a story of its own. The entire wedding came together under the planning and direction of Jessica Deltoro Weddings, who ensured the day ran smoothly.

Meet Jordan and Reilly — Sisters & Co-Founders

Grand Slam Glam’s story is a tale of passion, family, and a love for making brides feel extraordinary. Co-founded by sisters Jordan and Reilly, Grand Slam Glam is the culmination of a lifetime dedicated to mastering the art of makeup and hair styling. From a young age, Jordan learned the art of makeup and hair styling by watching her mom getting ready for work. Inspired by her older sister, Reilly soon followed suit.

Both women have competed in pageants, a space where they were able to hone their craft as makeup artists and hair stylists. While competing as a teenager, Jordan mastered hair and makeup for the stage and photography.  Similarly, during her reign as Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen, Reilly worked with numerous hair and makeup gurus to perfect her technique and create a unique style of her own. The Game Plan for Wedding Day

From your first inquiry to your big day, Grand Slam Glam has a simple six-step process for brides:

1. The Warm-Up

Fill out your bridal information sheet and receive a custom estimate from their team.

2. Batter Up

Next, you’ll reserve the date of your “game day” with a signed contract and a retainer fee.

3. The Beauty Big Leagues

After reserving your game day date, you’ll receive your Grand Slam Glam bridal information packet via email.

4. Batting Practice

Time for the fun part — your bridal trial session! Grand Slam Glam recommends a bridal hair and makeup trial at least one month prior to your wedding day. During the session, the glam gurus will get to know you, your preferences and your vision, ensuring that you’ll look “out of the park fabulous” on your special day.

5. Filling the Roster

At least 10-12 weeks before your wedding day, Grand Slam Glam will need to finalize and confirm the headcount and number of services for you and the rest of your bridal party. Afterwards, the team will send a customized “game day” schedule, line up of services and glam gurus for you to approve. 

6. Home Run 

 When game day arrives, their glam gurus will arrive prepped and ready to beautify you and your bridal party, ensuring that each of you feel like “all stars.”

Vows that Wow — Hannah & Bobby

Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty. Read on to learn about our November 2023 Vows that Wow couple, Hannah & Bobby!

On April 23, Hannah and Bobby tied the knot surrounded by dusty pink florals, sky blue accents and cherished loved ones. Each detail exudes luxury, whimsy and springtime romance!


How the Couple Met

Hannah and Bobby’s love was born out of a casual dinner date between their two roommates. Although the romance between their two friends was short-lived, it was the beginning of Hannah and Bobby’s relationship. “A phone call and a few exchanged messages later, we agreed to meet for a group hangout on the lake,” writes the bride. “I can still vividly remember the excitement and nervousness that consumed me on the day of our first encounter.”

The chemistry between Hannah and Bobby was immediate upon their first meeting. Conversation flowed effortlessly, their connection deepening with each passing moment. “It was as though we had known each other for a lifetime, and our hearts recognized each other instantly,” writes Hannah. “We bonded over the shared experience of being 20 plus years apart from our siblings and our shared values of faith and family.”

From that point on, the two became intertwined in a way neither could have imagined. Looking back, the couple laughs about the serendipitous circumstances that brought them together. Looking forward, Hannah and Bobby are walking hand-in-hand, confident that their marriage was meant to be. 


The Wedding Day

Along with her bridesmaids, Hannah began the day by sitting down with Taylor from Tease to Please Hair and Makeup — an experience she won’t soon forget. Not only was Taylor kind, warm and energetic, she also displayed a punctuality that put Hannah at ease. “Her professionalism and attention to detail alleviated any worries I had about running behind on the wedding day, allowing me to relax and enjoy the morning,” she said. 

The couple said “I do” at Hotel Drover, located in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards. The hotel combines western charm with modern Texas ambiance, giving the Clarks’ wedding a charming and elegant feel. Hotel Drover also catered bite-sized hors d’oeuvres and dinner.

In addition to their savory feast was a towering, five-tier wedding cake made by Sugar Bee Sweets Bakery. Frosted in white with snowy florals, this cake was sure to be a crowd pleaser. After dinner, the couple and their guests danced the night away to the sound of Royal Dukes Band

The entire wedding was doused in florals by Vella Nest Floral. Pastel pinks and blues paired with classic ivory and green made for a soft, springtime look. Paired with decor and rentals from POSH Couture Rentals and BBJ Tavola, Hannah and Bobby’s wedding was complete with beautiful linens, tableware and seating.

With countless photographers to choose from, how does one go about the selection process? While price tag and skill are important considerations, so is your connection with the photographer. 

Below, experienced wedding photographer Kyrsten Ashlay dives deep into what you should look for when it comes to choosing your media team. Along with sharing valuable advice, she also provides you with six questions to ask photographers that go beyond what they charge. Read on!

Q&A with Kyrsten

What factors should a couple consider when booking a wedding media team? 

Couples are going to spend a lot of time with their wedding media team leading up to the wedding, the day of and even afterwards. This is one vendor with whom I believe personality is imperative to consider. You want to feel at ease with them, to truly express your wants and desires when it comes to your wedding day and the art they produce. 

Another thing I would strongly suggest couples consider is choosing someone who truly understands what they desire when it comes to their wedding day. This is important for when timelines get delayed or something happens (hair and makeup gets delayed, someone is running late, unforeseen weather) and the media team has to make a quick decision. You want to be able to trust them in that moment, that they’re making the best decision for YOUR wedding. Personality, how they make you feel and whether you feel seen, heard and respected by them is key. 

Ultimately, if you have a subpar experience with your media team, every time you look at your photos/video you are going to be reminded of that experience and how your media team made you feel rather than appreciating the imagery they created for you. 


What are a few good questions to ask photographers besides what they charge?

  1. How do you manage a wedding day? Do you guide the day or hands off and let the day flow naturally?
  2. What would be your response if something happened that derailed the timeline? How active are you in planning the timeline? 
  3. What’s your favorite part of wedding days? 
  4. How do you ensure my photos/videos are safe between wedding day and delivery? 
  5. How do you interact with our guests/other vendors? 
  6. How do you describe your style (editing + shooting)? 

What surprises couples the most about hiring a wedding media team?

Oftentimes, couples are surprised by the cost of hiring a wedding media team. Other than cost, I feel couples are surprised about the amount of time needed for their media team. In my experience, they often underestimate the time they need.

I truly care about my couples, their wedding days and their guests. My couples to me are not just another client or a date on the calendar, which is why I only take on a limited number of weddings per year. I want to ensure they’re getting the experience they deserve.
